Kjaer Weis Essential Trio 2

Kjaer Weis Essential Trio 2 in box

Overall Performance: 9/10

Price: £85

Developed by New York makeup sensation, Kirsten Kjaer Weis, through 8 years of extensive research, Kjaer Weis is a luxurious green beauty brand like no other. Her products are eco-friendly, organic and high performance. I have been coveting the KW range for quite some time now, and have finally decided to acquire the Trio Set as I am  indecisive keen to try out all of her products!

I have worn the three products altogether for several nights out, and I’m glad to say that the Kjaer Weis range truly lived up to its name. I now am a very happy bunny with three new staples in my makeup bag!

Let us take a moment here to lust over Kjaer Weis’ sleek packaging. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. Move over Tom Ford and Chanel, the casing of KW is made with quality metal, with a reflective surface that could double as a compact mirror. As a result, the products are more weighty than meets the eye.

Better yet is that the packaging is meant to last. Kjaer Weis sells refills in biodegradable containers at a cheaper price, making it both environmentally-friendly and (relatively) budget-friendly. The magnetic adhesive makes it very easy to swop refills to take on-the-go.

Kjaer Weis Trio Colours

From the top:
1) Passionate Lip Tint
2) Wisdom Eye Shadow
3) Blossoming Cream Blush

There are currently 3 different Essential Trios Sets on the market, all of which include a cream blush, an eye shadow, and a lip tint. I have the Kjaer Weis Essential Trio in number 2, which includes the Blossoming Cream Blush, the Wisdom Eye Shadow, and Passionate Lip Tint.

This set is for the ladies who love a natural, fresh-faced, “just had a run in the park” look. Although the products seem pigmented in the pan, the finished look is very neutral, and suitable for both day and night (photo at the end of the post).

Passionate Lip Tint:

This Lip Tint is sheer, but the colour is buildable. I usually apply around 2 layers, and this gives me a very flattering “your lips but better” look. The finish is semi-matte, but also smooth enough to erase any lip lines. Passionate is a berry shade, which I think will look great on any skin tone, but especially on fair-skinned ladies! The wear itself is not very long-lasting, so you would need to reapply every few hours.

I apply Passionate with a lip brush to reduce the risk of contamination. I also have a retractable one which I bring around with me on-the-go!

Moisturising ingredients in the lip tint include Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Shea Butter. The tint also contains Lemon Peel Oil, which is anti-bacterial (great for anyone will chapped lips), and Rosa Rubiginosa Seed Oil, which has tissue regeneration properties for reducing lip lines.

This product is certified organic; a minimum of 95% of all ingredients comes from organic farming.

Individual Price: £32; Refills: £16

Wisdom Eye Shadow:

Wisdom is a mauve colour – my favourite shadow colour as it is flattering for any occasion. The pigment is shimmery, but not so over the top that it borderlines glitzy.  The best thing about Wisdom is that it is not just a wash of colour on the lid, it’s also great for adding depth and dimension to an eye look. I am in love with this shade – even Kirsten Kjaer Weis admits that this is one of her favourites!

In terms of wear, this shadow doesn’t transfer on my extremely oily lids. However, it does crease, even with a setting powder on top. Thankfully, the creasing is not so unsightly that a trip to the bathroom won’t fix. In all fairness, every other eyeshadow has creased on me so far (except for several non-natural ones). So if you don’t have oily lids, this eyeshadow should work perfectly on you.

You can also apply Wisdom with a damp brush, and use it as a liner on the lash line.

Interestingly, this eye shadow uses Bamboo as an ingredient for a silky finish. Bamboo is rich in silicone, which is an important ingredient in collagen synthesis. Other great ingredients include Gardenia Florida Extract, an antioxidant, which can protect the delicate skin around your eyes against free radicals.

This product is certified natural; a minimum of 70% of all ingredients comes from organic farming.

Individual Price: £30; Refills: £15

Blossoming Cream Blush:

Blossoming is my favourite product in the trio. Of all products, the blush is the one formula that Kirsten Kjaer Weis mastered perfectly.  I cannot fault it in any way.

Blossoming is very long-lasting and extremely pigmented – a little goes a long way. It is a rosy colour that gives you a youthful, fresh-faced look. When applied on the apples of your cheeks, it looks as though you are glowing from within. This blush creates a dewy sheen, which also has the ability to erase pores and minor imperfections. I apply this using a clean brush, and use my fingertips for smudging.

Nourishing ingredients in the cream blush include Caster Seed oil, Jojoba Seed oil and Beeswax. Similar to the lip tint, it also contains Rosa Rubiginosa Seed Oil and Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract.

This product is certified organic; a minimum of 95% of all ingredients comes from organic farming.

Individual Price: £38; Refills: £21

Would I repurchase this product? The refills – yes for all of them! Might try out different colours too.

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you!

      • Aww you’re sweet! Yes, I love the idea of the refills – I may just buy them first to keep the price a bit lower… but then maybe not as the packaging is half of the swoon factor!! I’m sure I’ll order samples soon and then maybe buy something with my birthday money as a special treat… It’s not long now (May). xx

    • 🙂 Can’t wait for you to get it on your birthday! Yes, you are right, the packaging is worth the extras :p But in the mean time, you still have your entire drawer of drool-worthy makeup to play with for the month haha!

  3. The makeup look lovely on you 🙂 I really want to try something from Kjaer Weis – their products really do look so luxurious and I love the ingredients they contain. I am leaning towards the lip tint now after your post, it looks like a perfect subtle colour for spring/summer 🙂 x

    • Thank you so much Tania! 🙂 Yes the lip tint is gorgeous, very natural and perfect for every day. I must warn you though, it does come off easily! But I must admit that the packaging of KW makes me feel so chic when I flip it out to reapply haha! :p

  4. Great post! You look lovely 🙂 I’ve only been trying samples of KW i.e. the lip tint in “sweetness” and the “pretty purple” eyeshadow. Both are absolutely fantastic, but I promised myself to use up most of my makeup before splurging on Kjaer Weis, because I went a bit crazy on Jane Iredale makeup a few months ago 😉 x

    • Thank you for your wonderful comment 🙂 I think the blush is the best KW product – maybe try a sample of that too when ur using up ur stash 😉 Ah Jane Iredale! I haven’t tried anything from them yet – what would you recommend?

      • Will try the blush then 🙂 Regarding Jane Iredale, I have the glamour lip & eye palette : I really love their eye shadows & the Lip & Cheek Stain in “forever pink”. My least favorite was the zap & Hide concealer (however I found out that it actually works great as a primer)
Your blog is so great! I’ve been browsing it and you’ve done incredible reviews 🙂 x

      • Sounds tempting! Will check out Jane Iredale…when I have the cash haha 🙂 I’m actually looking for an eye primer for my oily lids – so might check out the concealer too. Sadly, there aren’t many green primers around.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment about my blog! 🙂 it means a lot xxx

    • Thank you so much! You are so kind :). The secret is in my mascara! – tho I didn’t really want to tell anyone cause it’s not a natural product (I use Trish Mcvoy). Haven’t found a substitute I’m happy with yet – but I’m currently trying out lots of different natural alternatives. Will let you know if I find a great one!
